If your child is entering grades K-5, check out the new Henry Ford Academy: Elementary School in the historic Boston-Edison district in Detroit.
Highlights include:
- 15 student class size in grades K-1
- 20 student class size in grades 2-5
- Project-based curriculum
- Design Thinking as a process that develops creativity and leads to innovation
- Community partnerships with local organizations
- Automatic enrollment at the nearby Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies Middle School when students complete 5th grade
- HFA: Elementary School will offer 26 academic learning studios, a technology/media center, art and design studios, an exhibition hall, three open-learning commons areas, a dining hall, an administrative and reception suite, a student support suite, and a moderate-sized gymnasium with an assembly and performance stage
Henry Ford Academy: Elementary School opens in September 2012 in the newly transformed Duane Doty School, a historic elementary school building located at 10225 3rd Street, Detroit, MI 48202. We will serve up to 360 students in grades K-5 from the first year forward. Our school is tuition free.
HFA: Elementary is a Thompson 90/90 School developed and managed by Henry Ford Learning Institute, governed by Public School Academies of Detroit, and authorized by Grand Valley State University.
