I started this site to highlight the positivity throughout Detroit. Having a restaurant that focuses on promoting the health of an individual is a huge resource for the city. Anytime you find a small business thriving in a city is refreshing.
The RAW Cafe-Detroit began as a successful organic, vegan, raw food delivery service in 2007, and has since established a physical location at 4160 Woodward Avenue @ the corner of Willis Street in fabulous Midtown Detroit. The RAW Cafe-Detroit sits just a few blocks north of downtown Detroit.
Vegan, Vegetarian and of course RAW; the RAW Cafe-Detroit specializes in delivering a high-quality delicious healthy organic raw, vegan experience. Founded by LaKeta McCauley, and inspired by Hippocrates famous quote, “Let Food By Thy Medicine”, The RAW Cafe-Detroit brings the constructive, healing, and delicious power of food to the urban market. At the RAW Cafe-Detroit, good health is just as important as delicious food. You can dine-in or take-out any of our gourmet organic vegan, vegetarian, living meals. Our menu is diverse and changes seasonally. We offer many different entrees, raw juices, pasta dishes, wraps, pizza, veggie burgers, and “guilt-free” desserts, desserts, desserts! Fresh, tasty, healthy, light… Need I say more? Coming back to Detroit to visit my family, I insisted we go to the Raw Cafe, having seen the website a month ago.
I try to eat primarily at restaurants which place an emphasis on quality and inventive ingredients. Finding a vegan, raw, organic restaurant is rare and a certain treat, being that this is Michigan and statistically speaking, being one of the fatter states in the nation, these sorts of restaurants are rare.
Upon entering, the cafe is modern, yet earthy at the same time. It is bright, airy, emitting a distinct vibe of positivity. We were immediately greeted by the scent of fresh smoothies being made and a smiling waiter.
